Shopping in Ottawa, Canada
Shopping is probably not the main motivation for someone visiting Ottawa and we don’t even recommend creating high expectations, but nothing prevents a trip to the Canadian capital from offering good shopping opportunities. The city has shops for all tastes and has branches of some of the main international brands in the fashion scene, including fast fashion stores and luxury brands.
For tourists, there are two places that stand out when it comes to shopping, the ByWard Market and the Rideau Center. ByWard is a district with a lively atmosphere, which brings together restaurants, bars, cafes, several shops and has a market in the morning where natural foods, fruits and vegetables are sold － it is one of Canada’s oldest open air markets. It is worth strolling there, because you can find different products and certainly something delicious to eat.
The other major shopping center in Ottawa that should not be missed in the tourist itinerary is the Rideau Center, a closed mall, located in the city center, which has stores of major brands, such as Forever 21, Coach, Fossil, Lacoste, Calvin Klein and the huge Nordstrom.

Bayshore Shopping Center
The Bayshore Shopping Center is a closed mall, with more than 160 stores of the most varied types. It is about 13 km from the city center and is one of the best options for those who want to shop and find good deals.
The mall has luxury brand stores and other more popular ones. Among the brands present in the place are Apple, The Body Shop, Sephora, MAC, EB Games, Coles supermarket, Aldo, Foot Locker, Vans, Desigual, Forever 21, H&M, Zara and Blue Navy. CF Rideau Center
The Rideau Center, in downtown Ottawa, is the city’s main shopping center. The mall is huge, has a wide variety of shops and services, has several floors and is still an access point to local public transport. Being closed, it is a good place to shop in winter, when it is very cold in the city.
The Rideau Center has shops for all tastes, from popular brands to more famous ones.

Sparks Street Mall
Sparks Street Mall is a small open-air mall, located on Sparks Street, which has a section of the road intended for pedestrians only. The street is in the center of the city and is a small shopping center that brings together shops and restaurants. It is a pleasant place to walk, has good food and shops. Although it is interesting because it is an old Ottawa area, it is really a small place, so don’t expect to find many stores here.

Toy Soldier Market
ByWard Market is an old Ottawa district that has become one of the city’s main points of interest. Bringing together shops, restaurants and various entertainment options, it is a very busy place and a popular option for entertainment. To have breakfast, do some shopping, have lunch, dinner or enjoy the nightlife, the ByWard Market is always an excellent alternative. If you stay in Ottawa for a few days, you will probably visit it several times.
In the morning, an open-air fair is held in the district, where producers sell fruits, vegetables, other fresh produce and flowers. It is a good place to buy natural foods or to try some of the popular fruits in Canada, such as blackberries and raspberries, which are not so abundant in Brazil. Operating since 1926, it is one of the largest and oldest markets in the country!
There are many different places to visit at ByWard Market and the options really cater to people with different tastes. For breakfast, we recommend the Moulin de Provence boulangerie, but if you want to have an Italian meal, our tip is Vittoria Trattoria. To drink, you can go to the Highlander Pub or the Heart and Crown. The ByWard Market has shops with kitchen utensils, clothes, confectionery, cafeteria, craft fair, nightclub, bar and some street artists are also present there － it is really an unmissable place to go anytime.
