Silver Ring

Silver is a metal that has been appreciated by humans since prehistory, imagining that it was discovered shortly after the discovery of gold and copper.
To the ancient Egyptians, gold was always the perfect metal, the most malleable and durable, representing the great deity, and its symbol was a circle, like Ra, the Sun.

Silver, following the Egyptian predilection, was the gold closest to gold, and its symbol was a semicircle, which was associated with the crescent moon, by virtue of the resemblance of its brilliance to that of the moon.

Among the Romans, silver was called the Argentum, which became the international name for the metal and from which the chemical symbol was created, Ag. Nowadays, also derived from the Latin name of silver, we have a country that honors it, Argentina.

As it was always considered a sacred metal, the silver had its restricted use among the ancients, being used for decoration and jewels like the silver ring , payment of debts, ornamentation of religious temples and in the manufacture of household utensils.

It is interesting to note that pure silver is toxic but not poisonous, but its compounds, such as nitrate, have an antiseptic effect, being used in solutions for the treatment of irritations of mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, nose and ears.

Silver is only surpassed by gold in nobility

Long used in the history of mankind, silver has always been considered the second most noble metal, surpassed even by gold. The Roman Empire used silver to maintain the stability of its monetary system.

The Chinese also used silver for much of their history to trade, paying for goods like tea, silk, and porcelain with it.

Valued in this way, silver has also always been used for jewelry making, being transformed into rings, bracelets, necklaces, hair ornaments, with or without gems embedded, as well as cutlery and other household items. In recent centuries it was common for the nobles to have silverware, which gave the air of refinement and nobility they needed when they wanted to delight visitors.

The care to be taken with silver

If you have a silver ring or some other jewelry of this material, you should take some care to preserve its luster. When used, a silver jewelry should be cleaned immediately after use and stored in a dry place, wrapped with a paper towel.

When you constantly use jewelry, it can undergo normal oxidation, and you should always polish. Because it is sensitive to sulfur and chlorine, and because these elements are the ingredients of various household cleaning products, it is common for silver to be darkened in contact with them, or even with food such as eggs, onions, and mayonnaise.

But you can increase the durability of your shine, and for this you just avoid its use when handling food and cleaning products.

Silver is one of the most appreciated ornaments after gold, and its use also enchants the eyes and enhances the feminine beauty.Rings, earrings and necklaces made of silver, with precious stones or ingrown pearls are one of the most brilliant creations of mankind and deserve to be valued and used.
